These past couple of weeks have been tough for international swifties. So, to get past the pain and piercing FOMO, I've decided to compile my own version of the Eras Tour setlist because... reasons.
I actually think the setlist Taylor chose is amazing! Some of my favourite songs ended up on the set which I didn't think would ever see the light of day (The Last Great American Dynasty, I'm looking at you, bestie). I'm a folklore girlie so of course the setlist was going to make me happy.
Obviously, there are changes that I would make, though. So I thought it would be fun to put myself through the mental pain of going through Taylor's entire discography and picking some songs to make up my own dream tour setlist! This was a grueling process!
Debut
Our Song
Should've Said No
Debut is probably my least favourite Taylor Swift album so I wouldn't have many songs from here but these two are definitely my favourites. It's actually a crime these aren't on the setlist. Taylor really decided to snub her debut album.
Fearless
The Way I Loved You
Love Story
You Belong With Me
Fearless
I think these are the Fearless classics. They're nostalgic and really fun to sing along to at the top of your lungs.
Speak Now
Mean
Haunted
Sparks Fly
Better Than Revenge
Speak Now was robbed - ROBBED - in the current setlist. I know it's probably because she's performed a lot of these songs before but... only one song from this era is criminal.
Red
Holy Ground
All Too Well TMV
State of Grace
We Are Never Getting Back Together
I've chosen bops for the Red era with a ten minute cry-fest in the middle. I feel like that sums up the Red album pretty well.
1989
New Romantics
Wildest Dreams
I Wish You Would
Style
1989 definitely isn't one of my favourite Taylor albums- the songs are great and I enjoy listening to it but it doesn't stand out as much as the others. Sorry, not sorry.
Reputation
Getaway Car
Don't Blame Me
King of My Heart
I Did Something Bad
Dancing With Our Hands Tied
Reputation is my favourite Taylor Swift era so I had to have an extra song in this section. The Don't Blame Me high note will forever be iconic and the outfits are to die for. Honestly, I could watch Taylor perform every song on this album and would never be bored. I suppose we have the Reputation Stadium Tour on Netflix so that will have to be enough for me...
Lover
Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince
Death By a Thousand Cuts
Daylight
Cruel Summer
I always forget about Lover but this process made me realise how underrated it is because I found it SO difficult to only pick four songs! There's a least another five songs that should be in this setlist.
Folklore
Cardigan
The Last Great American Dynasty
Betty
August
Mirrorball
While Reputation is my favourite era, Folklore is my favourite album by far. The lyricism on this record is unmatched and I will die on this hill. I'm so happy there are seven Folklore songs on the current set list- Folklore stans are really winning.
Evermore
Cowboy Like Me
No Body No Crime
Dorothea
Champagne Problems
When I tell my heart broke when Taylor performed Cowboy Like Me in Vegas as a surprise song... I'm not even exaggerating. I wanted it to be the surprise song at my show! (I say, as an international swiftie with tour dates not even announced yet...)
I have a fierce love of Cowboy Like Me- it's in my top three Taylor songs of all time. I will defend it with my life. "You hang from lips like the Gardens on Babylon" like are you kidding me? That's the most beautiful lyric I've heard in my entire life.
Midnights
Karma
The Great War
Bejeweled
You're On Your Own, Kid
And finally... Midnights. These may be controversial picks but I'm sticking with them. An ending song of You're On Your Own, Kid would be brutal but I actually love that the current show ends with Karma- it's such a fun and upbeat finish!
Surprise songs
Right Where You Left Me
Long Live
This was so much harder than I thought it would be! I don't know how Taylor even began to decide what songs to put on the final setlist but I think it's generally pretty good (at least, ME! isn't on it).
What songs would you have on the Eras Tour?
